Poppy & Pine Studio grew from a lifelong love of children’s books, learning, and making things. I’ve been drawn to creative projects for as long as I can remember, and books have been part of many different seasons of my life, from raising and homeschooling my daughters to working with children’s books and, now, sharing them with my grandchildren.
I started Poppy & Pine Studio as a home for books and creative resources that make learning, curiosity, and everyday life a little more enjoyable. Some are educational. Some are simply for fun. But they all begin with the same idea: make something children and their grown-ups will genuinely enjoy using together.
It started with Aelia.
The first books from Poppy & Pine Studio are the Aelia First Latin Books.
The idea actually began with a dream.
I woke up imagining a children’s Latin-English reader built around gentle stories and a little girl named Aelia. It brought together my lifelong love of children’s books with the Latin I studied during college.
I wanted to create a different kind of beginning Latin reader, one that could make a child’s first experience with Latin feel more like storytime than a lesson.
Instead of starting with grammar rules and memorization, Aelia’s stories introduce Latin through simple stories, repetition, illustrations, and reading support. They’re designed for children and the grown-ups reading alongside them, including families discovering Latin together for the first time.
